Walpole Youth Lacrosse

Due to the weather conditions, Saturday practice is canceled for the U11, U13, and U15 boys. This is a good day to clean your room, take out the garbage, give the dog a bath, do your homework, wash your equipment, or restring your stick.

With the enormous growth of lacrosse in Walpole, many parents are asking about equipment for their new players entering our program. In general, we recommend that parents look into the equipment “starter package” offered by ComLax (Commonwealth Lacrosse) which is located on route 140 in Franklin.

The “starter package” consists of a helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, and a lacrosse stick. The ComLax staff will be able to help you choose the right equipment for your son in regards to fit and to be sure that the equipment works well together. It’s generally a good idea to to try on all of the equipment together at the store so both you and your son understand how it all works and fits.

To all Walpole Boys Youth Lacrosse:

We hope everyone had a great summer and are starting to get into the swing of things as Fall is fast approaching. We at Walpole Boys Youth Lacrosse are meeting in 2 weeks to start to plan the 2008 season. But for now we are jump-starting our season with the annual Fall/Winter indoor program.

The cost this year is $150/player. This is by far the least expensive program out there and offers the player almost 16 hours of field time at Forekicks. That’s less then $10/hour. We will be offering this to all 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders as of Sept 2007. No 3rd graders.

The program will start on Thursdays in November and run every Thursday through Jan. 24th. We will not be playing on Thanksgiving or during the Holiday vacation week. We will be offering ½ – ¾ of an hour clinics followed by 1 hour games every week. We will have special guest appearances form the Cannons, Jason Andalo from Walpole High School and other special guests.

I want you all to know how lucky we are to have this preseason indoor program. We are the only lacrosse town that I know of in Massachusetts that offers this to their youth. Because of this and our great Spring program we have the strongest youth program in Massachusetts.
